Motivation Piece

Hey all,
I haven't updated here in forever, I know. However, I have been very busy. In particular, I have started and completed another map. This one was done for a school project, and is supposed to portray a shantytown (in particular, Soweto, South Africa). It's a very small piece, but in the end, I was very proud of my accomplishment here. I will post my entire development through it.

For this piece, I needed to reskin one of Half-Life 2's citizen models, making him appear shirtless. The end results was quite terrible. Unfortunately, he looks like he is still wearing a shirt, just a brown, dirty one.
At this point, I was ready to start sprucing it up a little, using displacements and decals to break up the piece and keep it interesting.
By now, I had finished with the texturing and started adding models and props that I felt would be appropriate for a shantytown.

The Final Pieces

After I completed the map, I needed some shots that I could actually display. So I took some good ones of the finished product, photoshop'd it up a little bit and had an absolutely great looking piece, methinks.

This was my first ever release. I made it approx. one year ago. It was made using Hammer 4.0 , and is a small farm map. I have learnt a lot since this, but think it's worth showing where I started off. I apologize for the low-res textures, my computer back then was less than up-to-par. However, all of my new stuff should look much better, with HDR and everything.
